With the injury to starting shortstop Ricky Gutierrez, Baltimore fans are set to see the future of the position as Jimmy Rollins was called into duty from AAA Indianapolis. The youngster is expected to take over full-time at the position in 2001. Gutierrez was injured in the Stouts last series against Cincinnati and is expected to miss three weeks of action.
In another move, 3B Tom Evans was acquired from the waiver wire. To make room on the roster, Eduardo Perez was given his release. Evans is expected to man the hot corner against RHP.
