Pick 10.14 - 230th Overall

Kevin Appier - OAK SP

Got my staff "ace" with the selection of Appier.  Not that by this point in his career he should be considered the top of a rotation guy, but that's what he is for me.  Yes, his better days with Kansas City are behind him, but he still has three good years left in him, winning 40 games for three different teams in that stretch.  2000 found him pitching in Oakland, and he won 15 games with a 4.52 ERA.  If he could have found a little more control that year (he led the league with 102 BBs), he might have won 20+ games.  As it is, he racked up 31 starts and will reside at the top of my rotation.  Appier comes back in 2001 with the New York Mets and compiled a 3.57 ERA in 33 starts with a 1.185 WHIP.  2002 saw him pitching in Anaheim where he won 14 games with a 3.92 ERA in 32 starts.  In my estimation, he's a solid arm at the top of the Stouts rotation for the next three seasons.  And all of that in the 10th round.  Tell me he's not worth the 230th overall pick.  There were probably 12-15 starting pitchers that were taken before Appier that can't match his three year production.
