We're getting to the point in the proceedings where you have to look for quality positional backups and the best available arms for the staff. We're in need of 40 games to backup Fernando Vina at 2B, and Jay Bell is the best available person out there to fill in those games.Bell actually had the best season of his 18 year career in 1999, a season which saw him hit .289 with 38 HRs. He earned an All-Star nod and MVP votes for his performance. In 2000, Bell was solid, chipping in 18 HRs to go along with 30 2Bs. He also played solid defense. He looks to fill in for Vina in the games he misses, as well as provide a good bat off the bench for pinch-hitting duties.
