Bill Mueller - SF 3B

My strategy was to grab a 3B with this pick and I'm sticking with my plan. Had targeted Phil Nevin a little earlier in the draft but he got picked before I picked Vina last round. Had my eye on Corey Koskie with this pick but he was selected five picks after I took Vina. So had to go with my backup plan and picked Bill Mueller. Not disappointed with the pick at all. Mueller is excellent in the field, and provides enough offense to be a valuable member of the lineup. In 2000, he played in 153 games and although he only hit .268, he remains viable thanks to his defense. He's traded to the Cubs in 2001 he bounces back to hit .295 with a .403 OBP in limited duty. In 2002, he gets traded back to San Francisco and has another solid if unspectacular year at the plate. Off to Boston in 2003, he actually wins the AL batting title that year, hitting .326 with a .938 OPS. A couple more solid years in Beantown before retiring in 2007. All in all, pretty solid contributions offensively and defensively for several seasons. Can't complain.
Going to start targeting some pitching from here on out as my lineup is pretty set with the exception of the one year SS I still need. Both Sanchez and Gutierrez are still available. If one goes, I'm gonna snatch up the other with my ensuing pick (hopefully)!
