Pick 21.11 - 478th Overall

Turk Wendell - NYN RP

Still in need of quality arms in the bullpen.  Wendell fits the bill.  A solid arm and a guy who eats innings.  Just what the doctor ordered.

Wendell appeared in 77 games in the year 2000, tossing 83 innings and compiling a 3.59 ERA.  He was a real killer against right-handed batters, limiting them to a .196 batting average.  He has two more serviceable years left in him in 2001 and 2002.  For the current season, Wendell will man the 7th and 8th innings, setting up either Kline or Hawkins, or maybe a guy like Antonio Alfonseca who is still available (he actually led all of Major League Baseball in saves in 2000, but his high ERA must be scaring off other owners).

Heading into the back third of the draft.  Still in need of a backup catcher and 3B.  Will also be adding to the pitching with the best available arm strategy.  And at this point, can start picking up some guys who are worthless in 2000 but provide some value in future seasons.
